Pilot Coffee Roasters is looking for a Retail Manager to lead our team at Te Aro on Queen St East. We are seeking a leader who can oversee the nuances of this location while consistently upholding Pilots standards in Customer Experience, Quality, Innovation and Sustainability.  You must notice the small details and be able to think of big picture ideas to help contribute to the success of our retail teams. You must be confident leading a team, and effectively be able to give feedback, coach and delegate, while simultaneously promoting autonomy and high team morale.  

 Your key responsibilities are to:

  • Create monthly cafe schedules and approve any changes;
  • Completes weekly sales reports and waste reports;
  • Support, demonstrate and ensure proper cafe policies and procedures are followed by all staff, including cash handling, attendance, health and safety policies, product standards and customer service;
  • Maintain accurate records and make adjustments to cash drawer reconciliations;
  • Submit bi-weekly payroll reports and make any corrections necessary; calculate e-trips and distribute biweekly;
  • Keep POS systems up to date;
  • Assist with recruiting and on-boarding new staff, including bar training;
  • Regular and ongoing training for supervisors and new staff including performance reviews;
  • Offer strategic input or suggestions as to how to increase store profitability and efficiency;
  • Assist with performance management and terminations of direct reports;
  • Maintain coffee knowledge on current offerings and confidently and accurately communicate product knowledge to staff and customers;
  • Be on-call to staff and supervisors for any issues that may arise;
  • Recognize staff for outstanding customer service and teamwork under the Pilot Customer Service Recognition Program;
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of Pilot Coffee Roasters.
