At Pilot Coffee Roasters, working with great people is at the foundation of who we are and how we operate.  With a diverse team of over 85 people, it’s our goal to support and foster the development of our team by providing  a collaborative and inclusive workplace, opportunities for growth, a sense of community, with creative people initiatives to support these things.  The HR Manager is both a strategic and hands on role that will provide full-cycle HR support to our Retail and Administrative teams with a focus on keeping our people as the foundation of everything we do.  The role will be critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvements. 

As a people person, you will ideally have around 6-8 years of previous HR experience, and thrive on helping to support great teams. You will have a hands on approach to be able to monitor the pulse of our team and their needs, keeping everyone on the team happy and enjoying our work environment.  You will help to continue to drive company culture through our current and future people initiatives, and thrive on working in a rapidly changing environment.

Accountabilities:

-HR Administrative tasks including updating and managing PayScale, Bamboo HR, Ceridian and League Benefits.  Maintaining and updating our policies.

-HR Programs and Policies and Culture:  Maintaining and updating our policies, being a creative force in revising and recommending new programs and opportunities that will improve our team’s work experience. Keeping your finger on the pulse with regards to our team’s engagement 

-Coaching and Development:  Coaching and mentoring our supervisors and managers and identifying training/development opportunities to help grow our team’s skills and interests

-Recruitment:  Creating and updating job descriptions, interview guides, compensation programs and rewards, and the onboarding of new roastery staff.

Qualifications/Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree - or MBA - experience that shows steady progression in HR roles and/or management.  HR experience in a retail environment (understanding and supporting hourly employee groups) would be beneficial.

-CHRP certification is an asset

-a team builder with proven experience 

-experience in developing retention and rewards programs

-strong communication skills, flexible and solutions focused

-analytical and strategic thinker

-knowledge of Ontario Labour Laws
